POSTPONED Check your bias: A training for Cheshire Medical Center employees – PM

  • Thursday, June 22, 2023
  • 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

POSTPONED until further notice.

We regret the trainings held on June 21 and 22 are canceled. Once scheduled, we will list replacement events at cheshiremed.org in July, so please stay tuned!

If you work with people struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health, then unconscious biases, stereotypes, and stigmas can influence the service you provide—even when you have the best intentions. This can cause frustrating interactions and sometimes dangerous working conditions, while you unknowingly prevent people from receiving the care they need.

Anti-bias training for medical professionals regarding SUDs and mental health is an important step toward ensuring equitable and effective healthcare for people struggling with addiction. This type of training aims to minimize the stigma that often influences the treatment and care of people with SUDs.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify 2 biases common to well-intended professionals working with people experiencing behavioral health or mental health-related symptoms.
  • Practice using 2 evidence-based tools that help you mitigate this personal and organizational bias in your work, enabling you to provide the best services or treatment to those who need it.

CEUs are provided. Registration is required for this event.
