Dartmouth Cancer Center Grand Rounds: LGBTQ+ Cancer: Equity Moves for 2022

Come get an update on what we know about LGBTQ+ cancer disparities, then dive into a series of practical moves that can help build health equity for this underserved population. Learn about trends that affect cancer care now, including which new identity labels are proliferating most quickly in the community. Learn why and how to build an environment where LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and students will thrive. Get practical examples of how screening and care has gone wrong for this population and what can be done at a structural and interpersonal level to course correct. Finally, learn about a range of new tailored resources you can share with patients.

Learning objectives

• Participants will be able to identify which subset of the LGBTQ+ population is growing most quickly and at least one care consideration related to this group
• Participants will be able to enumerate two steps that can help build a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and students
• Participants will be able to enumerate two steps they can take in their daily activities to create a more welcoming patient environment
• Participants will be able to find at least 3 tailored online resources for LGBTQ+ patients
