Presenter

Catherine C. Shuman, Ph.D., Director of Behavioral Science, Core Faculty – Family Medicine Residency at Cheshire Medical Center

“I am an ally. I respect patients and their family’s cultural beliefs, ethnic backgrounds and personal preferences. Striving to understand the unique story of every patient is a cornerstone of my care.

Overall wellness is the key to health, both physical and mental. That’s why our family medicine residency offers integrated care, providing patients with the right care at the right place and time. Through that model, behavioral health treatment is available in the comfort of a patient’s primary care physician’s office. We provide the support that suits each patient best.

I work with patients as unique individuals to identify the change they want in their lives, then empower them with tools and resources to work towards improving their wellbeing. In part, I achieve that by continuing my own personal development and education. Through constant growth, curiosity and wonder, I work with patients to help them find their “best life.”
