Leader: Kim Wenger Hall, RYT-500

Most of us were never really taught how to draw the human form, let alone how to capture that “special something” that makes a good figure drawing so captivating. In this course, you will be guided step by step through several approaches to seeing and capturing people on paper. By the end of our sessions, you’ll be able to create a realistic representation that you will be proud of!

(if you have taken figure drawing with me before, some of the content will be familiar to you)

Supplies:
Sketch paper (like printer paper)
Large drawing paper (medium quality paper at least 18 x 24″ is ideal)
Pencils – drawing pencils are great – a range from soft/black to hard/gray
Later: drawing media of choice: pastels, charcoal, colored pencils
Ruler or straight edge
Eraser (having a variety erasers is great)
Graph paper can be handy
Preparation: Print out several options to use as reference.
Week one should be of an adult person standing upright and facing the camera. Not of a person you know – as that gets tricky!

Here is an excellent example for week one:  https://unsplash.com/photos/l9kqKO2MUt8 [unsplash.com].

You will want to crop the photo so that the image of the human body is as large as your printer allows.
