The sessions will provide an opportunity for caregivers to learn from and converse with experts in the field. Topics and speakers will change monthly based on what is current and relevant to caregivers in our support groups. See below the details of the speaker and topics for this month.

When It’s Time for More Care: Options and Considerations
Presenter: Catherine Amarante, RN

Join us for this discussion on when it is time to explore more care for your loved one with dementia.  Some of the areas we’ll cover include:

  • When is it time for more or different care?
  • What are the options for keeping your loved one at home?
  • What are the options for residential care?
  • How can it be paid for?
  • How do you choose a place?

Catherine has been a registered nurse for over 23 years. She has worked in a wide variety of settings serving older adults including long term care, secure dementia units, home health and adult day. After 5 years as the care coordinator for the community based geriatric practice at DHMC she joined the Dartmouth Centers for Health and Aging last year bringing her geriatric nurse expertise to various projects.

Throughout her career Catherine has helped countless people living with dementia and their loved ones with decision making and process when more or different care is needed. She is passionate about the importance of thoughtful, informed transitions of care.
