Leader: Kim Wenger Hall
Learning to draw three-dimensionally can feel really daunting, but in this class, we’ll break down the fundamentals of perspective step-by-step. With an exploration of drawing, then painting a simple still life, the principles of realism will be much easier to grasp.
Materials (will be explained in detail in the first session)
• pencil and eraser
• sketch paper (copy paper is fine)
• ruler or straight edge
• drawing paper (large is good)
Optional Materials (could be nice to work with):
• a drawing board (something firm to hold your drawing on)
• drawing pencils of varying hardness (I like a selection of 5 pencils or so from very hard & gray to very soft & black)
• charcoal, pastel, etc
Preparations to make:
Have a “still life” of 3 non-perishable simple shapes set up. Boring boxes and cans are ideal. NOT glasses, vases or anything decorated. Place these objects at least 5 feet away, directly in front of your drawing table.
This program meets nine Mondays (1/9, 16, 23, 30, 2/6, 13, 20, 27 and 3/6) from 10 am to noon. When you register for the first date (1/9), you are enrolling in the full program.
